HOW TO SUBMIT YOUR RESIGNATION

Resigning from a job can be a difficult decision, but once you've made the decision, it's important to submit your resignation professionally and respectfully.

Here are the steps you can follow:

1. SCHEDULE A MEETING WITH YOUR MANAGER OR SUPERVISOR

This meeting can be in-person or virtual, but it's important to have a face-to-face conversation rather than sending an email or letter.

2. BE CLEAR AND DIRECT

Start the conversation by stating that you're resigning from your position. Keep your explanation brief and to the point. You can mention your reasons for leaving if you feel comfortable doing so, but it's not necessary.

3. PROVIDE A WRITTEN RESIGNATION LETTER

Even if you've had a conversation with your manager, it's still important to provide a written resignation letter (which can be sent over email).

This letter should include the date of your resignation, your name, and your job title. You can also include a brief statement thanking your employer for the opportunities you've had while working there.

4. OFFER TO HELP WITH TRANSITION

If possible, offer to help your employer with the transition by training your replacement or helping to tie up loose ends.

Be sure to set firm boundaries around this - there is no obligation for you to stay longer to help them prepare for your departure unless it was contractually bound when you were hired.

5. MAINTAIN A POSITIVE ATTITUDE

Even if you're leaving on bad terms, it's important to remain professional and maintain a positive attitude throughout the resignation process.

Remember, resigning from a job can be a big decision, so take some time to think it through before making a final decision.

If you do decide to resign, following these steps can help ensure a smooth and respectful resignation process.
